Tim Shaw is an aspiring music journalist, who graduated from Bridgewater State University in January 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. As Loud Rock Director and DJ for Bridgewater State University’s student-run radio station, 91.5 WBIM, Tim was able to interview many different hard rock/heavy metal musicians for his radio show, Severe Auditory Trauma. He also contributed Arts & Entertainment articles to the university’s bi-weekly newspaper, The Comment.
Tim has written several exceptionally creative short stories, countless poems, some song lyrics, and many articles on his music-oriented WordPress.com blog, The MusicTalker. He has additional experience in the fields of radio and film.
For Severe Auditory Trauma, Tim conducted interviews with the likes of Megadeth’s David Ellefson, Steve “Zetro” Souza (Hatriot, Dublin Death Patrol, ex-Exodus, ex-Tenet), Nick Hipa of As I Lay Dying, and several other established hard rock/metal acts. He also interviewed up-and-coming local Massachusetts-based bands, including Sonic Titan, Bring the Knife, and The Patriot Act.
He helped create several well-received short films for his courses at both Dean College and Bridgewater State University, including Meat in the Fridge, Overcome, and a music video for Radiohead’s cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” all of which can be viewed on his online portfolio, along with other projects he has completed.
