Classic Album of the Week: November 1, 2009

I apologize for this delayed post… This week’s classic album is:

Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?  – Megadeth

Megadeth’s second album, 1986’s Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying is undoubtedly one of the band’s finest moments, if not their best album of all time.  1990’s Rust in Peace and 2009’s Endgame are also amazing albums, but Peace Sells is on its own level of excellence.  Each track is phenomenal.  “Good Mourning/Black Friday” is my favorite track off this album, because it just doesn’t stop its glory.  That song starts out great with the mellow-ish intro.  The tapping and solo work in that intro is simply mesmerizing before it breaks into the thrash sound Dave Mustaine helped forge.  “Peace Sells” is surely a fan favorite as is “Devil’s Island.”  As I previously stated, though, there really is no unsatisfactory track on this masterpiece.  Dave’s signature shredding and everything is just amazing.  Dave Ellefson’s bass lines are clearly heard and satisfying to the ears, especially in “Peace Sells.”

For great reason, this week’s classic album of the week is Megadeth’s Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?.
